01What cookies are
Cookies are small text files that a website can save in your browser when you visit it. On later visits, the browser may send those files back to the site, allowing it to “recognise” the device or remember certain preferences.
Cookies can be session cookies (deleted when you close the browser) or persistent ones (kept for a set period). They may be placed by the site you are visiting (“first-party cookies”) or by other domains whose resources are loaded into the page (“third-party cookies”).
02Similar storage technologies
Besides cookies, browsers offer other mechanisms a site can use to store information locally on your device:
- localStorage — stores data indefinitely, until it is explicitly deleted;
- sessionStorage — stores data only for the current tab; the information disappears when you close the tab or the browser;
- the browser cache — temporarily keeps resources (images, fonts, styles) so pages load faster.
These technologies follow the same legal logic as cookies: unless they are strictly necessary, using them requires the user's prior consent.
03Strictly necessary vs. optional technologies
Strictly necessary technologies are those without which the website cannot function or cannot provide a service explicitly requested by the user — for example remembering a choice you have just made. Under applicable law these do not require prior consent, but they must be explained transparently.
Optional technologies serve purposes other than running the site: traffic analytics, audience measurement, advertising, remarketing, cross-site tracking. These may only be used after obtaining valid, freely given and revocable consent.
04What the BNG Studio website actually uses
The website was reviewed technically, on the production build, to establish exactly which cookies and storage mechanisms are created when the pages are visited. The result:
Cookies
The website sets no cookies at all — neither first-party nor third-party. There are no analytics, advertising, audience-measurement or behavioural tracking cookies.
localStorage
The website uses a single localStorage entry, strictly functional in purpose:
- bng-language — remembers the language you selected (Romanian, English or French) so that your preference is known as you browse the site. It contains only the language code (“ro”, “en” or “fr”), holds no information about you, does not allow you to be identified, is not used for analytics or profiling, and is not shared with anyone.
sessionStorage
The website uses a single sessionStorage entry, also functional:
- bng-wa-popup-dismissed — created only if you press the close button (×) on the “Message me on WhatsApp” prompt. Its role is to remember that you dismissed that prompt, so it is not shown again on every page within the same session. It contains only the technical value “1” and is deleted automatically when you close the tab or the browser.
Both entries serve a preference you have expressed yourself and are needed to provide the service in the form requested, which is why they fall within the strictly necessary category. If you do not change the language and do not dismiss the prompt, nothing is stored.
05Resources loaded from third parties
The only external resources the website loads are the web fonts used in the design, provided by Fontshare (Indian Type Foundry), from api.fontshare.com and cdn.fontshare.com.
When the fonts load, your browser sends this provider your IP address and the standard technical information that accompanies any web request. The technical review confirmed that this resource sets no cookies in your browser. The fonts are necessary for pages to display correctly.
The website contains no embedded maps, embedded videos, social media widgets, live chat, advertising pixels or other third-party scripts. Links to WhatsApp, Instagram or to the websites shown in the portfolio are ordinary links: nothing is sent to those platforms unless you click the link and leave the site.
06Why there is no cookie banner
Because the website uses no cookies and no optional analytics, advertising or tracking technologies, there is no processing that would require your prior consent. Accordingly, no cookie banner is displayed.
We deliberately chose not to show a banner “for appearance”: a banner that controls nothing would be a pointless formality, asking for an agreement with no object. If we introduce services in the future that involve optional technologies — a traffic analytics tool, for example — we will first implement a genuine consent mechanism, with equivalent accept and reject options and no pre-ticked optional categories, and this document will be updated accordingly.
07How to control cookies and local storage
Even though this website sets no cookies, you can always control from your browser which sites may store information, and delete data already stored, including the entries described above. The settings are usually found in the browser's privacy section:
- Google Chrome — Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data;
- Mozilla Firefox — Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data;
- Safari — Settings/Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data;
- Microsoft Edge — Settings → Cookies and site permissions;
- on mobile devices, equivalent options are found in the browser app's settings.
You can also use private/incognito browsing, and clearing your browsing data removes information stored locally by any site.
08Changes to this policy
This document reflects the actual technical situation of the website as at the last-updated date shown at the top of the page. We will update it whenever we add or remove technologies falling within its scope. For information about the processing of personal data generally, see the Privacy Policy.
